Laura K.

About

Laura K. Smoyer (Polston) was born on November 21, 1974, in Campbellsville, Kentucky, to Reverend Garry and Lula Polston. Raised in a home deeply rooted in faith and Southern Gospel music, Laura was introduced to ministry at an early age through her father’s traveling music ministry with groups such as The Polston Family, The Servants, The Sego Brothers & Naomi, and The Brotherhood Quartet. At just three years old, she sang on her father’s radio program for the first time, beginning what would become a lifetime devoted to sharing the Gospel through music.

On Father’s Day in 1984, Laura accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized by her father in a river near Greensburg, Kentucky. She later began singing regularly with her family in churches across Kentucky and, after graduating high school in 1992, attended the Steve Hurst School of Vocal Ministry & Performance in Nashville, Tennessee. During that time, she felt a clear calling from God to use her voice and testimony to minister to others.

For many years, Laura traveled and ministered with The Garry Polston Family, sharing the stage with well-known Southern Gospel artists including The Crabb Family, The Isaacs, The Nelons, Perfect Heart, and The Perrys. Following her family group’s final season of ministry in 2013, Laura continued pursuing the path God had placed before her through solo ministry and recording projects. She has also had opportunities to open for Gold City Quartet and participate in the Bill Gaither Homecoming Christmas Tour.

Today, Laura K. Ministries continues to impact lives through heartfelt worship, encouragement, and a passion for sharing the message of Jesus Christ. Laura and her husband, Dennis Smoyer, reside in Frankfort, Kentucky, where she remains active in her home church, Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church. With more than 48 years of singing experience, Laura remains committed to following God’s calling and ministering wherever He opens the door.
